Community Outreach and Training

Through inter-agency collaborations, VISIONS ensures that individuals who are blind have access to community-based resources. VISIONS works closely with advisory boards throughout New York City. VISIONS provides public education forums on eye disease and blindness prevention and vision screenings in all five boroughs of New York City, and has affiliations with over 64 senior centers.

Presentations are available through VISIONS in all five boroughs of New York City. These presentations involve an overview of VISIONS Services, Resources and adaptive equipment available to those who are Visually Impaired. An interactive simulation of the four major eye diseases helps to convey what it is like for some individuals who experience vision loss.

Training involves the proper techniques for working with someone who is Visually Impaired, and identifying and knowing the signs and symptoms of Visual Impairment and Vision Loss.

If you’re interested in arranging a presentation or training, please contact the Asst. Dir. of Community Outreach (212-625-1616, ext. 144). Fees are determined on a case by case basis and dependent upon the audience, type of training, location and number of trainings needed.
