The Role of an Advisory Board


The Advisory Board is a vital component of VISIONS / Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired.  Through the dedicated and committed work of its volunteer members, VISIONS locates individuals with vision loss and provides excellent services for blind and visually impaired individuals of all ages.

The Responsibilities of an Advisory Board

  1. Become familiar with the work of VISIONS and help promote public awareness of the needs and abilities of people with vision loss.

  2. Organize fundraising activities and contribute to VISIONS.

  3. Refer clients who are in need of services, and other individuals who are interested in VISIONS work.

  4. Identify and recruit new members of the Advisory Board.

  5. Make a commitment to attend Advisory Board meetings.

  6. Provide professional expertise when appropriat

The Advisory Board consists of representatives from businesses, community groups, professional organizations, elected officials, health organizations, trade associations, civic organizations, media, advocates for people with disabilities and consumers with vision loss.
